My Ride: Rose and her moped

Hey Chiles, my name is Rose Sleep and I’m the one who drives the moped parked by the bikes. This past year has been a tough one for all of us and a tight one with money. Yes, I would appreciate a car to drive during my senior year, but with how tight money is, that didn’t look like it would happen. So, this is what I did; I pictured me, a senior, riding the bus, with goobers, the freshmen (no offense, some of you are cool) and it literally made me sick. So I thought of my other options for an independent ride.
It was either me or my pa that brought up the idea for the motorcycle, and when we started our research, I had to take a $200 motorcycle safety class to get my motorcycle license. Fun. So there I was, the only female in the class, the only teenager, the only one that didn’t know anything about riding a motorcycle in the class. I was really nervous and intimidated but my instructor turned out to be really cool and helpful. The instructor had a scooter (moped) and I decided to ride it because it was small enough for me to handle. I fell a lot in the course but eventually I got it and passed with an “A.”
I got my license and eventually found my bike at a motorcycle shop where they work on bikes. I liked my moped because she wasn’t neon and didn’t look like she belonged to a Power Ranger. She was classy. I got my helmet and a lot of “be careful, be careful, and don’t die!” from my pa.
There are many benefits from driving a moped to school. But, there are days when I feel like a car would be less of a pain. Like when it’s raining and when it’s freezing. Only the toughest of the tough can handle a scooter… and I’m not so tough.
I got her for about $1500, which made my pa real pleased. Gas is about $3 a week driving to school from Chemonie Crossing and back. This is amazing, considering that Chemonie is in the boon docks. This will definitely be my ride for a while in college, too. I’ll be saving money, that’s for sure.
