On February 13, 2010, the Marine Biology Club participated in Hands Across The Sands, a statewide rally devoted to protecting the Florida coastline adn waterways from the devasting environmental effects of oil exploration and support industries.

Marine Biology club membersjoined hands with 145 community members at Shell Point Beach, forming lines in the sand against oil drilling in Florida coastal waters. Marine Biology Clun members also wrote letters to local legislators emphasizing legislation to protect Florida beaches.
